HOURS: 30-40 hours per week (FLEX)
SALARY: Hourly, $18.15
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
ACCOUNTABILITY: SAFE, Inc. Program Director
DESCRIPTION:
The Community Programs Coordinator will be responsible for the leadership in domestic and sexual violence prevention and community awareness work. This includes, but is not limited to, acting as a liaison between SAFE and other agencies in the community, and developing and carrying out projects of the Coalition.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS COORDINATOR:
Demonstrated commitment to the work of ending violence against women;
Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and sexual violence issues;
Demonstrated knowledge of systems advocacy and community-based best practices for violence intervention, as well as primary prevention principles, public health and community organizing models for violence prevention, and current research in the field of domestic and sexual violence services;
Demonstrated ability to participate in shared leadership and accountability with the Coordinated Community Response Coordinator;
Demonstrated ability to facilitate small and large group processes and activities, and utilize shared leadership opportunities as appropriate. Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective meetings and implement plans of action;
Demonstrated ability to lead community organizing efforts;
Demonstrated ability to conduct community marketing and outreach, as well as basic event planning
Demonstrated ability to form productive working relationships with a broad range of professionals and community members;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate effectively with a diverse population;
Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with SAFE program participants, staff members, volunteers, other agencies and community members;
Demonstrated ability to work within an empowerment framework and use a team-oriented approach with program participants, co-workers, volunteers, other agencies, and community members;
Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise excellent judgement in a variety of situations;
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills and general office tasks;
Educational/experience requirements include 3 years of experience in community advocacy or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
THE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS COORDINATOR PROVIDES LEADERSHIP IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- Development and implementation of a variety of awareness activities in the community. This will include, but is not limited to:
a. Domestic Violence Awareness Month Activities
b. Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month
c. Sexual Assault Awareness Month Activities
d. Other public awareness events as appropriate
Monitors the gaps and needs regarding the community's intervention and prevention of dating, domestic and sexual violence.
Facilitate educational presentations and training events to community groups and professionals, or schedule other staff or Coalition members to do so.
Develop and maintain partnerships with professionals, community members, and key stakeholders who organize and participate in dating, domestic and sexual violence prevention and intervention.
Design and distribute outreach materials (including social media posts on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, newsletters, and posters) for community campaigns, outreach, activities and other projects as appropriate;
Work with staff to include community-based and prevention messaging in community education and outreach efforts. Share Coalition news and information with members, volunteers, staff, board members and donors. Provide training as a part of SAFE's volunteer training.
THE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS COORDINATOR PROVIDES SUPPORT IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Participation and organization of Ravalli County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence programming and activities
Community networking meetings and activities designed to develop and maintain appropriate community partnerships in furtherance of Coalition objectives and SAFE's mission
Participation in regular grant-related conference calls and technical assistance activities and maintain positive relationships with funders;
Facilitate evaluation activities, including maintaining program statistics, collecting and collating data for process and outcome evaluations, and reporting. Maintain program action evaluation and sustainability plans;
Provide direct services to survivors in the event no Advocate is available to do so.
General:
Adhere to SAFE's Confidentiality Policy and Procedures;
Participate in agency and program evaluation activities as necessary;
Attend and contribute to regular team meetings and staff meetings;
Engage in a continuous process of learning and professional development;
Provide the Board of Directors with a written monthly report of activities and concerns;
Request assistance from the SAFE Program Director or SAFE Executive Director in situations
where legal or ethical obligations are unclear;
Act as a representative of SAFE in the community. The Executive Director, however, must approve any issuance of SAFE policy or position statements.
