COBRA & HRA Specialist (Wex System)

Position Summary
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing COBRA continuation coverage, Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), and related benefits administration processes on behalf of employer clients. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely processing within the Wex system and other TPA tools.
Key Responsibilities
- COBRA Administration
- Manage COBRA enrollment, terminations, and qualifying event notifications in accordance with federal regulations.
- Process participant elections and premium payments through the Wex platform.
- Track eligibility timelines, generate notices, and maintain compliance documentation.
- Reconcile COBRA premiums and report discrepancies to clients.
- Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) Administration
- Set up, manage, and reconcile HRA plans for employer groups.
- Process reimbursement claims accurately and efficiently in the Wex system.
- Communicate with plan participants to resolve inquiries related to claim status, balances, or plan details.
- Assist employers with plan renewals, funding schedules, and reporting.
- Wex System Management
- Maintain accurate participant and employer records in Wex.
- Generate and distribute reports, including reimbursement summaries, COBRA status updates, and monthly billing.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on the Wex platform for internal staff and clients.
- Client and Participant Support
- Provide professional, timely communication with clients and members.
- Educate employers on compliance requirements, plan setup, and system navigation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve account issues.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all processes align with IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Participate in regular audits and internal process reviews.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration with a TPA or similar organization.
- Hands-on experience with COBRA and HRA plan administration.
- Proficiency in the Wex Benefits System (required).
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of COBRA, HRA, and other employer-sponsored benefit programs.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based administration portals.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with additional benefit accounts (FSA, HSA, Commuter).
- Knowledge of ACA and ERISA compliance standards.
- Customer-first attitude with a collaborative work style.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52, $75,021.70 per year
