Job Overview

ArDan Construction LLC is hiring a Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, job costing, and cash-flow management in a growing construction environment. This role partners closely with the CFO and leadership team to ensure accurate financials, strong internal controls, clear communication, and scalable systems that support profitability and growth. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys both strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee QuickBooks, including AP, AR, job setup, job costing, reconciliations, P&L, and balance sheet
  • Lead month-end close and deliver department P&Ls, budget vs. actuals, and job profitability reports
  • File monthly TPT and maintain strong internal controls
  • Review and correct miscoded transactions prior to reporting
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and maintain rolling forecasts
  • Provide financial insights and scenario analysis to leadership
  • Oversee accounts receivable aging and cash-flow forecasting
  • Communicate with clients and internal teams regarding payment schedules and AR issues
  • Review client contracts and trade partner agreements for accuracy and risk mitigation
  • Ensure vendor compliance documentation is complete (W-9s, COIs, trade partner packets)
  • Oversee annual insurance renewals, including GL, Auto, and Workers' Compensation
  • Initiate bill pay, verify approvals and job coding, and sign checks within authority limits
  • Lead, develop, and train accounting staff
  • Improve accounting systems, internal controls, and processes
  • Serve as liaison between accounting, operations, sales, and production

Required Qualifications

  • Strong QuickBooks experience
  • Construction accounting and job costing experience
  • Strong understanding of general ledger and GAAP accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to lead, train, and develop staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Controller-level experience
  • Budgeting and financial planning experience
  • QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise experience
  • Contract or vendor compliance experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

Performance Benchmarks

  • Monthly reporting completed by the second Friday of each month
  • Accurate and timely job costing and financial reporting
  • Clear AR communication and cash-flow visibility
  • Vendor payments and compliance completed on time
