About Us
At Verogy, our mission is to "Impact Positive Change" for our clients, employees, and the environment. We operate based on a set of core values focused on driving positive, productive, and inclusive behavior. Our commitment to excellence and innovation drives us to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge solar projects that make a tangible impact on the environment and the communities we serve.
Your Impact
The Pre-NTP Project Manager will be pivotal in overseeing the engineering requirements for utility scale solar projects through the Notice to Proceed (NTP) stage of renewable energy projects. Your expertise in solar development operations, discretionary permitting, and pre-construction coordination will ensure projects move efficiently through due diligence, design reviews, regulatory approvals, and handoff to construction.
In this position, you will collaborate with internal engineering, development, legal, and construction teams as well as external consultants, permitting authorities, and landowners to ensure all pre-NTP requirements are clearly defined, tracked, and completed. You will help to identify risks, manage permitting workflows, and ensure that engineering deliverables support the project's schedule, budget, and regulatory needs.
This position can be in-person or remote, but may require occasional site visits to support due diligence, permitting activities, or pre-construction coordination. You will be a central point of communication for resolving Pre-NTP issues and ensuring that engineering, permitting, and development align as the projects advance.
This is an opportunity for someone with a background in small utility-scale projects, especially in discretionary permitting and pre-construction operations, to take on a high-impact role shaping the successful delivery of Verogy's utility-scale solar portfolio.
Your Role:
- Manage all pre-NTP activities, ensuring engineering, permitting, and development deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Oversee and track the discretionary permitting processes (zoning, planning, wetlands, environmental, local board approvals), including coordinating submissions, attending hearings, and facilitating responses to AHJs.
- Support and coordinate with the Utility Engineering team on site plans, preliminary designs, layout adjustments, and design feasibility reviews.
- Review development packages, zoning drawings, site plans, and consultant materials to identify risks, gaps, or opportunities for optimization.
- Coordinate with external engineers, surveyors, environmental consultants, and legal teams to ensure all Pre-NTP requirements are met.
- Assist in reviewing racking layouts, site constraints, grading assumptions, and high-level engineering inputs to validate project design readiness.
- Manage RFI and submittal tracking process in the pre-construction phase, ensuring timely resolution of engineering and permitting questions.
- Support utility interconnection milestones by coordinating engineering deliverables, schedule updates, and required documentation.
- Organize and run Pre-NTP internal alignment meetings, maintaining clarity of responsibilities, deadlines, and outstanding items.
- Conduct occasional site visits for due diligence, permitting requirements, landowners coordination, or early-stage design validation.
- Assist with survey work coordination, environmental study logistics, and data collection to support engineering and permitting needs.
- Work closely with procurement and contracts teams to ensure scopes of work align with permitting requirements and project designs.
- Maintain accurate project tracking, documentation, and reporting across all Pre-NTP milestones.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience in utility scale or commercial solar development required.
- Strong knowledge of discretionary solar permitting processes, including zoning, planning, environmental, and local board approvals.
- 2-5+ years of experience in solar project development, pre-construction, permitting, or related operations roles.
- BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, preliminary engineering drawings, environmental reports, and permitting documents.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience working with AHJs, consultants, landowners, and internal stakeholders.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and an ability to track multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to identify risks early and drive issues to resolution.
- Willingness to travel for occasional site visits, hearings, and stakeholder meetings.
Compensation:
The annual salary range for this role is $110,000-$140,000. The salary range listed is a good-faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
