Job Summary

As a Direct Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of support. You will provide compassionate care and assistance to clients, particularly those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, dementia, and other health challenges. Your dedication will ensure that each resident receives personalized attention, fostering independence and dignity in their daily lives.

What you'll do

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Implement care plans tailored to each resident's unique needs and preferences.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to hygiene standards.
  • Administer medications as prescribed while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems to document patient care accurately.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and first aid practices.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely, including using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • Background in social work or caregiving is a plus.
  • Strong conflict management skills and the ability to handle challenging behaviors effectively.
