Republic is one of the largest independent distributors of electrical, heating, air conditioning, energy management, refrigeration and sign support products in the entire Midwest. In addition to the headquarters in Davenport, IA, Republic has branches located in Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri.
Republic is in a period of growth and we are adding an experienced Project Manager to our team to own complex electrical projects end-to-end—especially switchgear packages, lighting and controls. - Lead handoff from Sales/Estimating; clarify scope, bill of material, schedules, and site logistics.
- Build project plans with milestones, risks, and communication cadence; maintain a clean project folder and audit trail.
Submittals, Procurement & Scheduling
- Prepare and drive submittal approvals (gear, lighting, controls); manage revisions and VE options.
- Issue POs, track factory lead times, and align production slots with jobsite readiness; manage long-lead items and phased releases.
- Coordinate logistics (factory to RDC/branch to site), including staged deliveries, lift-gate needs, and after-hours drops.
Execution & Stakeholder Management
- Run weekly project check-ins with contractors, foremen, GCs, and vendors; publish action logs and look-ahead schedules.
- Proactively resolve constraints (design changes, backorders, site holds, freight claims) and escalate early.
- Partner with inside sales/counter teams to ensure will-call accuracy and fast issue resolution.
Financial Control & Change Management
- Maintain pricing files, capture and price change orders.
- Track deposits, progress billings, and lien waivers with AR; manage RMAs/shortages/damages to closure.
- Keep CRM/ERP and dashboards current.
Close-Out & Continuous Improvement
- Deliver O&M manuals, warranty registrations, and as-builts; obtain acceptance sign-off.
- Conduct post-mortems; document lessons learned to improve estimating, vendor choices, and logistics playbooks.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ years managing electrical distribution or contractor projects (switchgear, lighting & controls, VFD/MCC, or power distribution).
- Strong understanding of submittals, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, short-circuit/coordination basics, and lighting spec packages.
- ERP/CRM proficiency (e.g., P21/Infor/NetSuite; HubSpot or similar) and comfort with dashboard tools (e.g., Phocas/Power BI).
- Financial acumen: backlog/margin tracking, progress billing, tax/freight, and cash-flow implications.
- Excellent communication, meeting facilitation, and documentation discipline.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record which gives you the ability to visit jobsites and branches as needed.
