Description

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Azure Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design, implementation, and management of Azure cloud services and solutions with a specific focus on Department of Defense (DoD) requirements and environments. This role requires deep technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and a commitment to excellence in supporting cloud infrastructure and services. This position is 100% Remote.

The Cloud Azure Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design robust Azure-based solutions tailored to DoD requirements.
  • Ensure optimal architecture and design practices are followed, adhering to DoD standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise on Azure cloud services including compute, storage, networking, and security, with a focus on DoD compliance.
  • Lead the implementation of Azure solutions including automation, configuration, and integration within DoD environments.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and tools for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance, ensuring they meet DoD security and operational standards.
  • Ensure seamless integration of Azure services with existing DoD infrastructure.
  • Act as a technical advisor to senior engineers and stakeholders within DoD projects.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for deploying and managing Azure services in DoD environments.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Review Board and Change Advisory Board on technical solutions and architectures relevant to DoD projects.
  • Develop automation scripts using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, and Python in compliance with DoD standards.
  • Implement configuration management solutions using tools like SaltStack and Puppet, ensuring they meet DoD requirements.
  • Lead project teams to ensure successful delivery of Azure projects within DoD environments.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for architecture, design choices, and implementation strategies, ensuring they align with DoD documentation standards.
  • Ensure Azure solutions meet DoD security and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and manage security measures, policies, and controls as per DoD guidelines.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years' experience; additional four (4) years' experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Clearance:

  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Azure cloud services, including design, implementation, and management, with a focus on DoD environments.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, and Python, with an emphasis on meeting DoD standards.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile and ITIL frameworks in a DoD context.
  • Experience with SaaS delivery and REST API integration within DoD projects.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop innovative solutions in DoD settings.
  • Familiarity with DoD environments, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders within the DoD.
  • Relevant DoD 8570 IAT II or DoD 8140 IT (Cyberspace) System Administrator.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Azure cloud solutions, with at least 3 years in DoD environments.

  • Relevant certifications in Azure (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
