Position Overview:

The Technician Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and development of all IVS Vet Technicians and Vet Assistants. This individual will act as a positive role model, setting the standard for professionalism, accountability, and excellence. They will foster a collaborative environment that promotes compassionate care for patients, respectful communication among team members, and exceptional service for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct oversight for all technicians and assistants including leads employees) among all shifts
  • Participating in hiring, onboarding and annual performance reviews for technicians
  • Oversee training, development and continuing education for technicians
  • Develop monthly schedules for all technical support staff to ensure optimal 24/7 coverage, balancing operational needs with financial responsibility by monitoring overtime and staffing levels.
  • Take on additional projects and tasks from management as they arise, delegating effectively when appropriate.
  • Oversee meetings with lead technician staff monthly to address pertinent topics, departmental concerns, and both short- and long-term project planning
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts, working closely with leadership to enhance processes, communication, and operational efficiency.
  • Support the growth, development, and infrastructure of new departments as IVS continues to expand services.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of technician protocols, SOPs and workflows

Qualifications

  • RVT
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the area of small animal emergency medicine, or comparable experience
  • Experience as a veterinary trainer or supervisor strongly preferred
  • Technical knowledge needed to advise and train vet technicians and to maintain a high standard of care
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with interruptions and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be positive, professional, empathetic, and someone who takes initiative
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software and EMR
  • Able to work day, nights and weekend shifts based on company needs
