In this role
In this role, you will support a cloud security and compliance team focused on non-commercial, U.S. government–related environments. You will manage security exceptions and compliance workflows end-to-end: opening and tracking tickets, coordinating with service and engineering teams, and driving exceptions through the risk determination and approval process.
You will participate in team meetings, capture and follow up on action items, and maintain clear documentation of every exception and decision. You will also help develop and maintain methods to track findings for trend analysis, support KPI / SLO reporting, and provide regular status updates that help leadership understand operational risk and the health of the environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day compliance and cybersecurity exception workflows for secure feature initiatives and related KPIs.
- Open, triage, update, and close tickets in internal ticketing systems, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
- Participate in recurring team and stakeholder meetings; document meeting minutes, decisions, and action items.
- Communicate with multiple service, infrastructure, and engineering teams to resolve security exceptions and compliance findings.
- Triage exceptions against internal security policies and secure processing policies (SPPs) based on operational risk.
- Guide supported teams through the exception and risk determination process, including required evidence and approvals.
- Track findings, exceptions, and remediation activities for trend analysis and variation reporting.
- Prepare and deliver status reports on ticket volume, exception aging, trends, and key milestones.
- Support the development and refinement of compliance processes, workflows, and playbooks.
- Collaborate with peers to improve consistency, quality, and throughput of exception handling and compliance operations.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of professional experience in compliance and cybersecurity-related roles.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with compliance processes (e.g., security exceptions, control monitoring, audit response, or policy enforcement).
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in or closely with cybersecurity functions (security controls, standards, risk assessment, secure features, or similar).
- Minimum 3 years of experience using enterprise ticketing systems (any platform; e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy, etc.).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in written and verbal communications (status updates, meeting notes, stakeholder communication).
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in process management or operational workflow management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience supporting cloud security or compliance in U.S. government or regulated environments.
- Experience with operational risk management, including risk triage, exception handling, and KPI/KRI reporting.
- Experience building or maintaining methods to track and analyze findings and trends (e.g., dashboards, reports, metrics).
- Familiarity with security/compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, or similar) – not required but beneficial.
- Experience working in a large, matrixed technology organization with multiple stakeholder teams.
