What You'll Be Doing
The Intelligence Unit Manager oversees all operations within the Intelligence Unit, providing direction, mentorship, and performance oversight for Intelligence Analysts and related staff. You will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and developing intelligence activities supporting law enforcement, emergency management, and homeland security missions.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Intelligence Analysts and assigned personnel, ensuring professional development and operational readiness
  • Direct daily intelligence operations and ensure timely production of actionable intelligence products, threat assessments, situational reports, and briefings
  • Manage the unit's participation in real-time operations, emergency responses, and large-scale incidents, ensuring coordinated support across divisions and partner agencies
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and homeland security entities to facilitate information sharing and joint intelligence initiatives
  • Oversee compliance with Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies (28 CFR Part 23) and related standards for data handling, retention, and dissemination
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and analytical methodologies to strengthen intelligence-led policing efforts
  • Oversee the integration of analytical software, databases, and communication platforms used in intelligence operations
  • Provide executive-level briefings to Sheriff's Office leadership, public safety command staff, and county administration regarding intelligence findings and emerging threats

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Highly preferred - Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies, or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Homeland Security, or a related field
  • Experience managing an intelligence or real-time crime center within a law enforcement agency
  • Advanced knowledge of intelligence databases, CAD/RMS systems, and analytical software (e.g., i2 Analyst Notebook, ArcGIS, or Power BI)
  • Experience coordinating with federal task forces or fusion centers
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in criminal intelligence, law enforcement operations, or crime analysis
  • Two years of supervisory or project management experience within a law enforcement or public safety environment
  • Hold or be able to obtain within three months of employment a DCI certification, and maintain certification throughout employment
  • Training in 28 CFR Part 23 and applicable intelligence systems and dissemination policies
