Laundromat Lead Shift Supervisor; responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laundromat during assigned shift. This position combines customer service, team leadership, and operational management to ensure the business runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising Staff:
  • Manage and lead a team of attendants or other staff members.
  • Assign tasks such as cleaning, assisting customers, maintaining machines, and stocking supplies.
  • Train new employees on policies, safety procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Customer Service:
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
  • Provide assistance with machines, laundry services, or vending equipment.
  • Ensure the laundromat is clean and welcoming for customers.
  • Operational Management:
  • Monitor and maintain the condition of laundry machines, ensuring they are working properly.
  • Schedule maintenance or repair work for equipment as needed.
  • Ensure all machines are stocked with detergent, change, and other necessary supplies.
  • Manage cash handling, including overseeing payments, transactions, and ensuring registers are accurate.
  • Inventory and Supply Management:
  • Keep track of stock levels for detergents, fabric softeners, and other supplies.
  • Order necessary products to maintain stock and ensure the laundromat runs smoothly.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Supervise or assist with regular cleaning of the laundromat, including machines, floors, restrooms, and seating areas.
  • Ensure the space remains safe and sanitary, and address any health or safety concerns.
  • Safety and Security:
  • Ensure the safety of customers and employees by following health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor the facility for any suspicious activity or theft, reporting incidents to management as needed.
  • Reporting and Administrative Tasks:
  • Keep records of operational issues, inventory levels, customer feedback, and staffing.
  • Report to upper management on the performance of the laundromat, including any issues or concerns that need attention.

Skills and Qualities Needed:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead a team, resolve conflicts, and motivate employees.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication skills to handle customer interactions with professionalism and care.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring machines are maintained, the facility is clean, and services are provided to a high standard.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues and handle customer complaints or operational challenges.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, from scheduling to inventory management.
  • Basic Accounting & Cash Handling: Familiarity with handling money, making change, and keeping track of daily transactions.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience working in customer service, retail, or a supervisory role, particularly in a laundromat or similar setting.
  • Physical Stamina: The role may require standing for long periods, lifting laundry baskets, or cleaning equipment.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, scheduling software, or inventory management tools can be helpful.

Our Lead Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the laundromat runs efficiently and that customers leave with a positive experience. Effective leadership, organization, and a hands-on approach are key to success in this role.
