Core Responsibilities

As Director, Research, you will serve as a thought leader for Corbin and its Research Center of Excellence, bringing expertise in capital markets and public company valuations with the ability to translate implications into actionable insights and recommendations for our advisors and broader thought leadership. You must possess the ability to read the macroeconomic landscape, public company valuations, and trends in investor relations and communications to fuel and execute on our research strategy, which underpins our advice in supporting our publicly traded clients in differentiating their investment brands and driving higher valuations.  

Reporting to the Vice President of our Research Center of Excellence team, you will collaborate with senior leaders and client-facing advisors across our enterprise to share insights, knowledge, and best practices. You will also partner with our data team to stay at the forefront of investor sentiment and insights. It is expected that you live our values, serve as a role model and mentor, and execute with experience-based astuteness, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and innovation. 

Your specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead Corbin's proprietary thought leadership agenda, including the annual planning process in partnership with key senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Develop a deep understanding of Corbin's Research Center of Excellence, Corbin Analytics, and our research archives and serve as a resident subject matter expert and thought leader on the capital markets, public company valuations, and investor relations and communications
  • Develop and manage a research content roadmap that is aligned with our overall production, content, and marketing strategies for key stakeholders, including executives, IROs, and Board Directors
  • Create high-value content and provide editorial oversight for all research content generated; this could include content such as capital allocation, premium valuation drivers, investment brands, investor days, corporate transactions, and other relevant buy side / investment community topics
  • Keep senior leadership and advisors apprised of market dynamics
  • Oversee our proprietary research repository from the past 18 years and develop a plan for maintenance and elevation
  • Craft compelling thought leadership narratives and prepare visually engaging content and presentations to communicate insights and analyses effectively and appropriately for various audiences
  • Partner closely with our business development and marketing teams, including sales collateral, conference presentations, and other commercial efforts to activate on thought leadership
  • Mentor and lead a team of analysts to conduct analyses and draw insights and conclusions
  • Become proficient in technology platforms to support the use our research database (experience with FactSet, AlphaSense, Domo, or Snowflake a plus)
  • Build capabilities within the team to leverage advanced research and technology tools and methodologies

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, economics or like studies required
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience; capital markets, investor relations and/or buy/sell- side experience a plus
  • Proven analytical skills; ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Passion for capital markets and stock market 
  • Ability to build executive-ready presentations and thought leadership with insights and recommendations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Ability to prioritize requests, establish workflow procedures, multi-task, meet tight deadlines and deliver on assigned objectives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Friendly, high-energy, team-focused, and can-do attitude a must
