The University of Connecticut Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UConn UCEDD) is the UCEDD of the State of Connecticut. It is funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and authorized under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act). The purpose of a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities is to provide preservice and continuing education, community services including training and technical assistance, research and dissemination with and on behalf of people with disabilities and their families, across the lifespan. The Connecticut UCEDD's emphasis areas are taken from the DD Act regulations and for the program are early intervention and schools; health and mental health; community inclusion and leadership development. As part of the national network of 67 UCEDD's, we share a vision that foresees a nation in which all Americans, including Americans with disabilities, participate fully in their communities.

The UConn UCEDD is located at UConn Health and operates as a Type Two Center in the Department of Public Health Sciences in the School of Medicine, and has affiliations with other medical and dental school departments and schools in the University. The Center also has a strong community presence and has partnerships with state and local agencies and six other Institutions of Higher Education in the State. In addition, the Center has administered a number of National Research Institutes and other projects of National Significance in Developmental Disabilities research, training and technical assistance.

The UConn UCEDD is seeking a candidate for one full-time in-residence faculty position in a Developmental Disabilities related discipline. Rank will be based on qualifications. Depending on rank, the successful candidate will have an emerging (Assistant) or established

(Associate/Full Professor) national reputation for interdisciplinary scholarship, teaching, and service within the field of Developmental Disabilities.

Responsibilities of the Research Faculty: This position will provide interdisciplinary leadership to the UCEDD, University and State and Nation by identifying, developing, and evaluating initiatives that benefit persons in Connecticut influenced and affected by developmental and other disabilities. This position will be responsible for assisting the Pappanikou Center Director and by developing, directing and implementing a wide variety of research and evaluation activities under the UCEDD's five year strategic plan including l) coordinating an annual evaluation of the program accomplishments and outcomes; 2) designing and implementing applied qualitative and quantitative research projects; 3) developing research proposals to secure private, state and federal funding to sustain and expand the Pappanikou Program's research and evaluation agenda; 4) developing IRB proposals for research projects, including student research projects. 5) supervising graduate assistants, teaching or co-teaching courses related_ to disability 6) performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

I)A doctoral degree in Prevention, Health Education, or related field; 2) Graduate training in Epidemiology 3) Evidence of writing, implementing and collaborating on external grants, 4)

Evidence of research scholarship through publications; 5) Potential for securing and/or

coordinating external funding; 6) Evidence of effective application of research and evaluation designs using qualitative and quantitative methods; 7) Evidence of experience collaborating

with interdisciplinary research groups; 8) Effective communication and interpersonal skills; 9) Technical and professional research and writing experience; 10) Experience with persons with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

I)Evidence of scholarship and/or funding in one or more of the following areas: (a) community engaged research education for families in low resourced communities, (b) developing

navigation and data collection application; 2) ability to interact and communicate with

individuals with disabilities and their families, human services providers from a variety of

disciplines and levels, and university and state level personnel.
