The DubSea Fish Sticks are a summer collegiate baseball team based in West Seattle/White Center, delivering high-energy, fan-first entertainment all summer long. We turn every game into a full-scale show where competitive baseball meets creative promotions, community involvement, and an experience unlike anything else in the Pacific Northwest.
Operating out of Mel Olson Stadium inside King County's Steve Cox Memorial Park, the Fish Sticks are preparing for an expanded 2026 broadcast season.
Position SummaryThe DubSea Fish Sticks are seeking three Play-By-Play Broadcast Interns to join our 2026 media team. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a professional broadcasting portfolio by calling all home and away games, totaling upwards of 45 broadcasts throughout the summer.
Interns will receive hands-on experience calling live baseball, contributing to broadcast production, and working with a growing sports entertainment organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide live play-by-play commentary for all home and away broadcasts during the 2026 season, approximately 45 or more games.
- Work alongside a broadcast partner for dual play-by-play or play-by-play and color commentary roles.
- Participate in pregame, in-game, and postgame segments including interviews and analysis.
- Conduct interviews with players, coaches, staff members, and special guests.
- Research player statistics, team trends, and league storylines to prepare for each broadcast.
- Collaborate with the media and entertainment teams to enhance production quality and prepare broadcast rundowns.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of broadcast equipment both at home and on the road.
Represent the Fish Sticks professionally while on-air, in the stadium, and during travel.
- Interest in sports broadcasting, play-by-play, sports journalism, or media production.
- Prior broadcasting experience such as college radio or TV, livestreaming, podcasting, or related experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of baseball rules, terminology, and pacing.
- Clear speaking voice and strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform confidently in live, fast-moving situations.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Availability for the full 2026 season including nights, weekends, and all home and away travel dates.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong storytelling ability and enthusiasm for baseball.
- Reliable preparation habits with attention to statistics, storylines, and player research.
- Comfortable improvising and adapting during live broadcasts.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a broadcast partner.
Energetic, professional, and ready to handle a full broadcast schedule.
- Ideal for current students or recent graduates in broadcasting, communications, journalism, media, or related fields.
- Previous experience helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
College credit available upon request.
- Internship runs from late May through early August.
- Interns will cover approximately 45 or more broadcasts including travel for away games.
Compensation or credit options can be added based on your organization's structure.
