Powertrain Diagnostic Engineer

We are looking for a
Powertrain
Diagnostic Engineer
to support the identification, analysis, and resolution of system-level powertrain issues across
combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicle platforms
. The role is centered on
diagnostic evaluation
,
log analysis
, and close cooperation with engineering teams to drive effective root cause resolution throughout development and validation stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth diagnostic investigations to determine root causes of powertrain anomalies.
  • Review and interpret CAN logs, UDS data, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and test reports to pinpoint faults.
  • Carry out testing activities at both vehicle and bench level using ETAS INCA and other diagnostic tools.
  • Interface with calibration, controls, and validation teams to develop and verify resolution strategies.
  • Track and document issues, contributing to structured problem-solving processes (8D, DFSS, A3).
  • Validate fixes and monitor system performance after implementation.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with ETAS INCA for logging, measurement, and analysis.
  • Proficiency with CAN / LIN protocols and understanding of UDS, DTC, and DID data.
  • Ability to analyze system behavior against expected functional outputs.
  • Familiarity with engineering quality tools such as DFSS, A3, and 8D methodologies.
  • Background knowledge in ICE, hybrid, and BEV powertrain systems and their control logic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in diagnostics, systems testing, or issue triage within the automotive sector.
  • Exposure to tools like CANalyzer or Vector CAN tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical approach, attention to detail, and ability to work across cross-functional teams.
