The Fund Accounting Director will be responsible for all aspects of fund-level financial reporting, investor reporting, and technical accounting for assigned investment vehicles. This individual will work closely with internal partners across investments, asset management, treasury, and compliance to ensure timely and accurate financial deliverables and adherence to SEC and GAAP standards.
Must Have:
- Fund Accounting (Senior Manager to Director-level scope)
- Experience within Real Estate Investment or Private Equity environments
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Nice to Have:
- Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) experience
- Yardi or comparable fund accounting system expertise
- Public accounting foundation (Big 4 or equivalent)
- Blend of general ledger and fund-level reporting exposure
- CPA credential
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting, reporting, and financial close processes for assigned funds, including both consolidated and stand-alone entities.
- Manage preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring alignment with U.S. GAAP and applicable SEC standards.
- Coordinate with internal and external audit teams, maintaining complete and accurate audit support packages.
- Lead fund-level SOX and internal control documentation and compliance efforts.
- Review valuation models and fair value adjustments in collaboration with the valuation and investment teams.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, including fund structuring, capital events, and new investment activity.
- Partner with senior leadership to evaluate financial performance, prepare analytical reports, and support investor communications.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing oversight and guidance on fund operations, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting and private industry exposure.
- Experience within real estate investment, private equity, or alternative asset management industries highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
- Familiarity with Yardi, MRI, or other fund accounting platforms preferred.
- Proven track record of leading audit coordination, SOX compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and support decision-making across teams.
