The Design Engineer primary role will be to design, develop, and deliver manufacturing equipment for Trinity factories.

What you'll do:

  • Design Trinity Rail products and specify the components that make up the products
  • Design and develop products, processes, systems, services or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniques
  • Facilitate transition of product design and enhancement to full production/delivery
  • Evaluate designs and products for compliance with regulatory and contractual standards in terms of material, stability and performance
  • Collect and analyze functional requirements of proposed products. Refine concepts, design products, plan project scope, determine and maintain schedules
  • Create or serve as project leader for production of layouts, specifications, prototype build drawings and bill of materials
  • Direct functional activities to drafters or drafting teams
  • Provide technical services to internal divisions, plant managers and teams in sales, engineering and manufacturing departments. Maintain external relationships with vendors, customers, engineers and operating personnel at various companies regarding non-standard components and their developments

What you'll need:

  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, required
  • 3+ years' experience of engineering procedures and administration; emphasis on railcar design preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills necessary
  • Ability to multi-task / handle multiple projects of differing
