We are actively hiring for Weblogic Admin.

Location: Jersey City, NJ (Local candidates in Tristate OR candidates who are willing to relocate can apply).

About the Role

WebLogic Admin with APEX is responsible for the comprehensive administration of Oracle WebLogic Server environments while also managing the configuration, maintenance, and support of Oracle APEX (Application Express) applications. This hybrid role involves ensuring the performance, availability, and security of both the Java EE application server platform and the low-code APEX environment.

Responsibilities

  • WebLogic Administration:
  • Installation & Configuration:
    Install, configure, and maintain Oracle WebLogic Server domains, including managed servers and clusters, in various environments (on-premise, cloud, or hybrid).
  • Deployment & Management:
    Manage the deployment and lifecycle of Java EE applications (EAR, WAR, JAR files) onto WebLogic servers.
  • Performance Tuning:
    Monitor system performance using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and conduct performance tuning, including JVM heap size and garbage collection analysis, thread dump analysis, and connection pool optimization.
  • Patching & Upgrades:
    Routinely apply patches, security fixes, and upgrade WebLogic Server and related Fusion Middleware components to new versions.
  • Security Management:
    Configure and manage security realms, integrate with LDAP or Active Directory, implement SSL/TLS, and enforce security best practices.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Provide advanced technical support for escalated incidents, perform root cause analysis of application and server issues, and debug logs.
  • Automation:
    Develop and maintain automation scripts using languages like WLST, Jython, Python, or Shell for routine administration tasks and deployments.
  • Oracle APEX Administration & Support:
  • APEX Instance Configuration:
    Perform APEX database instance configuration, create and manage APEX workspaces and user accounts, and handle password resets.
  • Support for APEX Applications:
    Collaborate with APEX developers to support application deployments, troubleshoot application-specific issues, and ensure seamless integration with the underlying Oracle Database and WebLogic environment.
  • Database Coordination:
    Liaise with Database Administrators (DBAs) for database-related issues, performance settings, and data model deployments, which often underpins the APEX environment.
  • Monitoring & Health Checks:
    Monitor the health and performance of APEX applications and the database listener (e.g., Oracle HTTP Server or Tomcat) that serves them.

Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise:
    Strong hands-on experience with Oracle WebLogic Server and proficiency in Oracle APEX administration/development.
  • Operating Systems:
    Solid background in Linux/Unix system administration (Red Hat or Oracle Linux preferred) and familiarity with Windows Server environments.
  • Database Knowledge:
    Experience with Oracle Database administration fundamentals, including SQL*Plus usage, checking listeners, and performance tuning concepts.
  • Scripting:
    Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Python, WLST) for automation and efficiency.
  • Cloud & Networking:
    Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) and experience managing environments in cloud platforms (AWS, OCI, Azure).
  • Soft Skills:
    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with development, QA, and operations teams.
  • Certifications:
    Relevant Oracle certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional for WebLogic Server) are often highly desirable.
