We are seeking a dynamic, professional Sous Chef to join our team at Garden Grille at Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch. This is a Full Time position located in Auburn, Maine. . This role requires individuals who are detail-oriented, proactive, experienced in a high volume restaurant, and committed to upholding our high standards of guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and service.

Work Performed

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Garden Grille at Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our high-volume restaurant. The ideal candidate is a passionate and skilled chef with a proven track record in a fast-paced kitchen environment and upholds kitchen standards.

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef in developing new menu items and seasonal specials
  • Assist in menu planning and costing
  • Manage inventory levels and place orders for supplies and ingredients
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and analyze food costs
  • Lead and motivate the kitchen team to achieve operational goals
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff members
  • Resolve any staffing issues or conflicts promptly
  • Assist in controlling food and labor costs
  • Monitor and manage the kitchen budget
  • Prepares food for banquets as specified by function contracts
  • Keep workstations and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order
  • Assist any station as needed
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2+ years restaurant experience in a related position
  • Must be able to work onsite at the hotel location
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Hours required: Full time hours per week for various shifts
  • Knowledge of kitchen and restaurant safety and emergency procedures
  • Ability to work well with others (i.e. interacts appropriately with guests and staff)
  • Ability to follow instructions, complete tasks safely and efficiently, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to maintain speed in meal production while ensuring high quality food
  • Ability to follow safety policies and procedures and immediately report injuries to their manager or manager on duty
  • Hours required: Full Time 40 hours per week for AM;Mid;PM;Must be flexible;Weekends;Holidays
  • Proficiency in the English language

Additional Preferred Skills/Qualities

  • Culinary arts education preferred
  • Second language is a plus, preferably Spanish or French

$21 Hourly
