Job Summary

Our client is searching for an Automation Platform Engineer who will support tenants, enhance automation capabilities, and strengthen governance across their Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). This role blends technical expertise, platform enablement, and cross-team collaboration to ensure a reliable, scalable, and well-governed automation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Tenant Enablement & Support

  • Act as the primary point of contact for platform tenants, hosting regular office hours and providing hands-on guidance for automation use cases and platform navigation.

Automation Engineering

  • Build, maintain, and optimize Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules to meet tenant requirements and expand automation functionality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and platform engineering teams to align automation strategies with organizational standards and support AAP lifecycle management.

Documentation & Training

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and best-practice guides. Facilitate onboarding sessions and training for new or existing tenants.

Governance & Standards

  • Support platform governance efforts, including RBAC design, security controls, and CI/CD integration for automation assets.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify ways to improve platform usability, automation coverage, and developer experience. Promote Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption across teams.

Troubleshooting & Operational Support

  • Diagnose and resolve automation issues within AAP, leveraging best practices to restore services quickly and minimize disruption.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in automation engineering (Python, scripting, Ansible, Salt, etc.) and proficiency with Git-based version control.
  • 2+ years working directly with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform in a development or administration capacity.
  • 2+ years of scripting or programming experience using REST APIs.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Lean, or Kanban methodologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Linux environments (RHEL 8/9) and troubleshooting OS or container runtime issues.
  • Ability to mentor tenants, lead office hours, and provide technical coaching.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, platform governance, and automation engineering best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field—or an additional 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience building automation for multi-tenant platforms and integrating with external APIs.
  • Background supporting environments with 5,000+ users.
  • Experience with VMware products and related integrations.
  • Knowledge of enterprise change management tools such as Remedy/Helix.
  • Understanding of QA practices, testing frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo).
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance standards, and RBAC models within automation environments.
