We are seeking an energetic and motivated Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, lead a diverse team, and drive sales growth. In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force behind creating a welcoming shopping environment, managing inventory, and ensuring operational excellence. Your leadership will inspire your team to deliver outstanding service while maintaining efficient store functions.
We're not just running a store - we're reimagining what a neighborhood grocery can be. You'll have real input in building systems, developing our team culture, and growing with us as we expand (café launch planned). We're investing in people who want to build careers, not just fill positions.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee all daily store operations including sales, inventory, staffing, and customer service
- Manage P&L responsibility - drive sales growth while controlling costs
- Lead, coach, and develop team of 8-12 associates
- Ensure merchandising standards and product quality meet our premium positioning
- Build vendor relationships and manage ordering/inventory systems
- Create staff schedules and manage labor costs
- Handle customer concerns and maintain exceptional service standards
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements
- Lead and supervise all store activities, ensuring smooth daily operations and excellent customer experiences
- Recruit, interview, train, and develop team members to foster a motivated and knowledgeable workforce
- Manage inventory control, purchasing, pricing strategies, and stock replenishment to optimize sales and reduce shrinkage
- Oversee cash handling, cashiering, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and store financials with accuracy and integrity
- Implement effective merchandising, marketing initiatives, and promotional displays to boost sales performance
- Maintain compliance with company policies, health & safety standards, and store procedures
- Utilize POS systems for transactions, sales tracking, and inventory updates while ensuring efficient shift management
What You Bring:
- 3+ years grocery management experience (independent, specialty, or premium retail preferred)
- Proven track record managing P&L and achieving sales targets
- Experience with inventory management, ordering systems, and vendor relations
- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Strong leadership abilities with proven supervisory experience in retail or grocery environments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and engage customers
- Proficiency in retail math including sales management, pricing strategies, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Skilled in negotiation, purchasing, inventory management, and inventory control techniques
- Experience with employee orientation, training & development programs, and performance evaluations
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, cashiering operations, and retail sales processes
- Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities such as stock replenishment, merchandising projects, and shift scheduling
- Ability to handle customer inquiries professionally using phone etiquette and excellent customer service skills
- Competence in managing marketing efforts and implementing promotional campaigns
- Time management skills to ensure efficient store operations during shifts while maintaining high standards of service
