About the Role
Join a world-class engineering organization that powers the future of energy. As a Design Liaison Engineer (DLE) within the Annular Hot Gas Path team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the design integrity, quality, and manufacturability of advanced gas turbine components.
This is a hands-on, problem-solving position where you'll collaborate directly with design engineering, manufacturing, and global supply chain partners to ensure that every turbine blade, nozzle, and heat shield meets our highest standards of performance and reliability.
Your work will bridge design intent with real-world production, analyzing non-conformances, managing engineering changes, and driving continuous improvement in both product and process design.
What You'll Do
As a Design Liaison Engineer, you'll serve as a key technical interface between design and manufacturing teams. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Analyze and resolve hardware deviations: Apply mechanical engineering principles to assess and disposition non-conformances on annular hot gas path hardware (e.g., blades, vanes, nozzles, heat shields).
- Perform structural and thermal analyses: Utilize Ansys Mechanical APDL, MATLAB, and other engineering tools to model stresses, deformations, and temperature gradients in critical turbine components.
- Leverage advanced CAD and PLM tools: Use Siemens NX and SolidWorks for 3D modeling, drawing revisions, and design updates; manage configurations and design releases through Enovia and other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Support engineering change processes: Prepare and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Changes (ECs) to document design modifications and ensure traceability.
- Ensure design accuracy: Create and review detailed Engineering Drawings with strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to maintain design intent and manufacturing precision.
- Lead redesign and manufacturability improvements: Revise drawings and models to enhance manufacturability, reduce cost, and improve performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Partner with suppliers, manufacturing sites, and internal design teams to ensure hardware quality, delivery, and compliance with standards.
- Drive process standardization: Contribute to the development of standard work, design templates, and methods for common manufacturing and design issues.
- Support new qualifications: Act as the technical focal for new process qualifications, second-source suppliers, and design changes.
What You Bring
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related discipline).
Experience:
- Hands-on experience in mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or design-for-manufacturing within aerospace, energy, or high-precision mechanical systems.
- Background with gas turbine hardware or other high-temperature, high-stress components preferred.
- Proficiency in:
- Ansys Mechanical APDL – structural and thermal FEA
- MATLAB – data analysis, simulation, and process automation
- HyperMesh – finite element model setup and mesh generation
- Siemens NX and SolidWorks – 3D modeling, drafting, and assembly design
- GOM – dimensional inspection and geometry validation
- Enovia – PLM system for change control and document management
