We have a client looking for a Regulatory and Compliance Engineer Manager:

Job Functions:

  • Technical Service Approbation for approvals in the North, Middle, and Latin American regions as well as products sold worldwide, as well as ETL Intertek, FCC, ANSI (American National Standards Institute), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), CB, NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana), S-Mark for Argentina IRAM (Instituto Argentino de Normalizacion), ANATEL & INMETRO (Brazil), …
  • Responsible for providing service to the group for explanation and interpretation of the local standards
  • Maintaining, updating, and adding new local standards
  • Participation in creating internal documents to avoid conflicts with local safety and compliance agencies
  • Providing design and construction help/consulting designers with local agencies in mind
  • Evaluate existing product changes as well as new products for constructional conformity to applicable standards
  • Participation in local standardization committees
  • Monitor UL, CSA, and other organizations for new developments and changes to standards.
  • Maintaining and updating current approval documents – Technical Documentation for the group
  • Creating and maintaining UL-accredited laboratories (DAP)
  • Review test data and final reports for accuracy and interpret pass/fail criteria.
  • Providing technical service to customers who purchased products during their approval and design process
  • Updating the group about changes and news in local safety and compliance-related topics
  • Working closely with headquarters and with other groups globally
  • Conducting tests and approvals in the local facility in Newnan
  • Supervising tests and approvals in other facilities
  • Monitoring tests and the approval activities at safety and compliance agencies to obtain timely results
  • Providing Technical Service for production sites for products with the marking of Americas safety and compliance agencies
  • Responsible for local cost center budget and budgetary control within the group for products and approvals in the Americas
  • Fast response and completion for approbation-related inquiries
  • Advanced local resources and capacity planning
  • Participation in training and trade shows to enhance the knowledge base
  • Participation in pre-studies to support the innovation process within the group
  • Act as liaison between the department and all regulatory agencies.
  • Join agencies' task forces and committees where applicable.
  • Managing the local Approbation and Regulatory team
  • This position includes supervisory responsibilities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Excellent communication, Project Management, Time Management, and Organizational skills.
  • Prior Project Handling and Management experience (Should have portfolio).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information such as Industrial Engineering input, New Product Specifications, Research and Development data, and specifications.
  • Travel is required approximately 20% of the time within and outside the US.
  • Knowledge of UL, CSA, and ANSI Standards (preferably UL858, UL60730 and CSA 22.1 and 22.2, NEC, and other safety and performance standards
  • Prior experience as a Regulatory Engineer working with UL or CSA and their respective testing, data management, and submittal programs.
  • Any of the above requirements/qualifications may be waived for the right candidate.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Continuous educational advancement and knowledge building skills are encouraged. To off- set education requirements, candidate may utilize appropriate certificates, licenses, or registrations in lieu of certain educational requirements.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the German and Spanish languages is a plus.

Experience:

  • Seven to ten years of experience in safety testing and a background in major appliance testing are preferred. At least two years experience coordinating project submittals with a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) such as UL, CSA, or ETL. Working knowledge of UL858 UL60730 and ANSI Z22.1 and Z21.1 preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt would be beneficial.
