Description

You'll need to have excellent communication and cross-group collaboration skills, be able to make forward progress despite ambiguous circumstances, be a self starter, a quick learner of new technologies and have experience shipping products. You will be a critical part of the core engineering team for a high-performing, low latency enterprise application. You will guide a multidisciplinary engineering team through the full development lifecycle-from design and implementation to validation, deployment, and operation. You'll set clear direction, foster collaboration between development, QA, and DevOps, and ensure fast, high-quality delivery through automation, continuous integration, and modern testing practices. We are looking for an engineering leader who is deeply passionate about building and operating highly scalable, fault-tolerant systems that support one of the world's largest and most complex infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor DevOps, Development, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, scalable systems.
  • Set the technical direction for the organization through hands-on involvement in architecture, infrastructure design, and system reviews, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with platform, security, and development teams to design and deliver reliable CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and tooling that empower engineering productivity across all product teams.
  • Mentor and develop team members through regular one-on-ones, career development planning, and skill-building in areas like cloud architecture, automation, and incident management.
  • Drive operational excellence by improving system reliability, enforcing SLIs/SLOs, and enhancing monitoring, alerting, and on-call processes.
  • Engage in hands-on problem solving, guiding the team through debugging, incident response, and root cause analysis of complex infrastructure or deployment issues.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery pipelines-from code commit to production release-ensuring automation, traceability, and repeatability.
  • Define QA strategy, integrating automated testing frameworks into CI/CD workflows to ensure product quality and release confidence.
  • Ensure quality and reliability through peer reviews, system validation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions with a proven track record of building highly reliable and scalable environments.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a technical leadership position, including responsibilities for people management.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including networking, compute, storage, IAM, and monitoring services.
  • Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for automated provisioning and configuration management.
  • Proven ability to design and operate highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems, ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance across production environments.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or GitLab CI.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) for modern infrastructure management..
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, CloudWatch) and building effective alerting systems
  • Expertise in system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization across the stack (infrastructure, network, and application layers).
  • Strong analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities for technical discussions and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, define best practices, and drive adoption of modern DevOps methodologies.
  • Proven expertise in capacity planning, incident management, and operational excellence.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to engage in deep technical discussions and guide architectural direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Proven experience in automation, CI/CD pipeline design, and container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Strong understanding of networking, system reliability, and performance optimization across distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional DevOps and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-efficient platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management to ensure operational excellence.
  • Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB), including replication and failover strategies.
  • Familiarity with event streaming and messaging systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, emphasizing automation, reliability, cost efficiency, and security best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of networking fundamentals, load balancing, routing, and security protocols.
  • Proven track record in designing resilient, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to guide teams, manage priorities, and deliver impactful results.
  • Experience implementing automated testing frameworks and quality metrics.
  • Education
  • BS / MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
