Position Overview

The Federal Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in all phases of federal construction projects, from pre-construction to final closeout. The APM will help coordinate schedules, budgets, documentation, and compliance requirements under federal contracting standards.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to gain experience in federal project delivery and grow into a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and managing project execution.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to ensure compliance with specifications and project timelines.
  • Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and meeting minutes.
  • Support cost control, budgeting, and procurement processes.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and reporting per FAR/DFARS and client requirements.
  • Participate in quality control, safety compliance, and site inspections.
  • Communicate regularly with federal clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Assist with project closeout procedures, including punch lists, as-builts, and warranties.
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field or working towards degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in construction project coordination or management (federal project experience preferred).
  • Military experiences are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and other federal construction regulations.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance, if required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and 9 panel drug screen.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, or VA contracts.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification.
  • Working knowledge of design-build and quality control processes.
  • Professional certifications such as EIT, PMP, QAQC and/or CCM are a plus.
