Position Overview
The Federal Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in all phases of federal construction projects, from pre-construction to final closeout. The APM will help coordinate schedules, budgets, documentation, and compliance requirements under federal contracting standards.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to gain experience in federal project delivery and grow into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and managing project execution.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to ensure compliance with specifications and project timelines.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and meeting minutes.
- Support cost control, budgeting, and procurement processes.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and reporting per FAR/DFARS and client requirements.
- Participate in quality control, safety compliance, and site inspections.
- Communicate regularly with federal clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Assist with project closeout procedures, including punch lists, as-builts, and warranties.
- Some travel may be required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field or working towards degree are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in construction project coordination or management (federal project experience preferred).
- Military experiences are encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and other federal construction regulations.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance, if required.
- Must be able to pass a background check and 9 panel drug screen.
Preferred:
- Experience working with USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, or VA contracts.
- OSHA 30-Hour certification.
- Working knowledge of design-build and quality control processes.
- Professional certifications such as EIT, PMP, QAQC and/or CCM are a plus.
