SUMMARY:

The AAR Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting railcar repair estimates and invoices in compliance with AAR rules and Ml 003 standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure billing accuracy and regulato1y compliance.

Working independently and exercising sound judgment, the specialist reviews documentation, resolves discrepancies, maintains accurate billing records, and supports audits and reporting. The position also serves as a key point of contact for customer and carrier inquiries and remains current on industry billing regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and submit railcar repair estimates and billing in accordance with AAR rules and M 1003 contract shop standards.

  • Review health management, shop work records, and other documentation to ensure billing accuracy.

  • Coordinate with operations, logistics, and accounting teams to resolve discrepancies.

  • Maintain accurate records of billing transactions and support documentation.

  • Monitor and reconcile billing reports and ensure timely submission to customers and railroads.

  • Respond to customer and carrier inquiries regarding billing issues.

  • Assist with audits and reporting as needed.

  • Stay current with AAR billing regulations and updates.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: Minimum 1 year of experience in AAR railcar repair billing, ability to inspect and detect railcar defects preferred.

  • Strong understanding of rail industry terminology and billing practices.

  • Proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Business, or related field preferred.
