Salary Range:
$100,000 – $130,000 / year DOE

Opto-Mechanical Engineer Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Experience designing precision, tightly tolerance mechanical assemblies for opto-mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and drafting
  • Familiarity with Zemax or similar optical simulation tools preferred
  • Understanding of optical component manufacturing and metrology methods
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technicians and R&D engineers

Opto-Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mechanical designs that integrate optical and mechanical components such as lenses, mirrors, and housings
  • Assemble, align, and test opto-mechanical systems used in high-performance laser and photonic products
  • Translate R&D concepts into manufacturable designs and support product transfer to production
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to ensure design integrity under thermal, vibration, and stress conditions
  • Collaborate with process technicians and software teams to improve manufacturing processes and performance
  • Maintain design documentation, specifications, and tolerance analyses within SolidWorks and related tools
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of production systems and assemblies
