Job Summary

Friends of Hospice of the Lakeway Area, Inc is a local community 501 3(c) non-profit agency whose main mission is to provide end-of-life care for up to 5 residents in a home-like setting (FOH Serenity House). Serenity House is a social model for end-of-life care and not a medical facility. All residents are under the care of a local hospice agency for professional medical oversite.

The Executive Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization, ensuring that the agency functions efficiently and effectively. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will oversee agency staff and volunteers, daily agency operations, fundraising and finances

Duties

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring that programs and services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Manage staff and volunteers, including hiring, training and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure the financial health of the organization by overseeing the budget, monitoring expenditures and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Lead fund-raising events, with the assistance from a working board of directors, write grants as opportunities arise, and develop/maintain donor relationships.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill the organization's mission and ensure effective governance; provide timely and accurate information to the board to facilitate informed decision making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and individual donors to enhance the organization's financial stability and community visibility.
  • Act as the public face of the organization, representing its interests at the local and regional level.
  • Oversee and evaluate current programs and procedures to ensure they meet the needs of clients served and align with the agency's mission. Design and implement new programs as needed.
  • Oversee communication strategies and social media to promote the agency's mission and engage/encourage the public in assisting with needs.
  • Assists as needed with any hands-on care for residents served at the Serenity House.
  • Oversees review of referrals, admissions and potential discharge of residents served at Serenity House.

Skills

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree; ideally a Master's Degree in Social Work, with at least 5 years of management experience and a minimum of two years in the field of hospice care.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Past success in working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
  • Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage with a wide range of existing donors and recruitment of new donors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Finanancial insight and experience with fundraising and QuickBooks software.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrates passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to provide direct hands-on care for residents at the end of life as needed for basic care needs.

Job Type: Full-time
