The Assistant Project Manager operates under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, and plays a key part in project coordination, scheduling, and field operations. Supporting daily operations across various road construction projects. Responsibilities include scheduling field employees, sourcing materials, allocating equipment, working directly with prime/sub-contractors, communicating with various agency representatives (project engineers, project inspectors, etc.), reading/understanding construction plans and specifications, and promoting a safe working environment for field personnel.
Requirements:
- Support Project Managers with research and plan set 'take offs'
- Analyze and interpret construction plan sets and specifications
- Compile necessary project documentation to include submittals, apprentice reporting and warranties
- Review project's billable quantities, and costs for data entry and or discrepancies
- Visit various SPM locations to assist with site operations, including inventory management, organizing work orders, assessing potential work sites to take measurements, and gathering notes for job bid estimates
Experience Required:
- 1-2 years of experience in road construction industry
- Familiarity with plan set 'take offs'
- Manage the project's progress by communicating daily with lead Project Manager
- Proficiency in technical computer support for various programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam software
Skills Required:
- Ability to analyze and interpret construction plan-sets and specifications
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with OSHA standards
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Education Required:
- Vocational or apprenticeship training or equivalent work experience
Physical Requirements:
- Work in both office and field settings, requiring adaptability to various conditions
Work Environment:
- Travel to and from job sites up to 10% of the time
