As a Construction Materials Engineer, you will



Your Day-to-Day:

As a Construction Materials Engineer, you will be essential in helping ensure construction projects are safe and built to last by testing and verifying the quality of materials used.

  • Material Testing: Conduct tests and perform special inspections on construction materials-including soil, concrete, asphalt, and others-to confirm compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Plan and Specification Review: Analyze construction plans and specifications to ensure alignment with project objectives prior to field activities.
  • Field Documentation: Accurately record observations and test results throughout project execution, utilizing Metafield or similar systems for efficient data entry, tracking, and coordination.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Assist in preparing detailed reports and proposals for smaller projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Team Communication: Maintain consistent communication with management, contractors, and clients to provide updates, share findings, and support project transparency.


What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar engineering field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
  • An Engineering-in-Training (EIT) license
  • Basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language


Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
