Novamet is a leader in powder metal manufacturing, committed to innovation, quality, and operational excellence. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant to join our Finance team and support our continued growth.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting daily accounting operations and financial reporting activities. This position ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, assists with month-end and year-end closing procedures, and supports cost accounting functions critical to a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to an efficient and profitable operation.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and general ledger account reconciliations.

Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable.

Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.

Participate in inventory physical counts and help ensure accurate inventory valuation.

Support fixed asset accounting, including maintaining depreciation schedules.

Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and inventory adjustments within the powder metal production process.

Prepare and review standard cost reports to verify the accuracy of material, labor, and overhead allocations.

Contribute to maintaining strong internal controls to protect company assets.

Generate financial statements, reports, and analysis for management.

Collaborate with operations and purchasing teams to ensure accurate cost tracking.

Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and analyses.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities.

Ensure compliance with company policies, IRC requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or similar) preferred.

Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.

Preferred Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

What You'll Be Doing

Perform routine maintenance and repairs to keep plant operations running efficiently.

Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues, implementing quick and effective solutions.

Utilize welding and fabrication skills for necessary repairs and upgrades.

Collaborate with the production team to ensure minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and recommend improvements.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience in plant maintenance or related field.

Supervisory skills preferred.

Strong troubleshooting and fabrication skills.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Benefits

Competitive Pay: $50,000 to $70,000 based on experience.
