Safety Manager
Job Summary:
The Safety Manager will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follows Mission, Vision, Values
- Develop and Lead Safety Culture
- Maintains the OSHA safety log and other requirements related to safety operations and regulations
- Develops, prepares, and implements safety policies and procedures, preventative care, and compliance safety training programs
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Reports safety performance measurements and analyzes and recommends corrective action for incidents and trends
- Organizes, supports, and guides safety committee
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
- Conducts employee safety training including but not limited to policies, regulations, 1st aid/CPR, rigging, etc. and safety inspections
- Completes weekly site visits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations and assists in site-specific safety plans
- Assists in incident, injury and near miss investigations
- Develops and oversees safety orientation, tool box talks and safety communication
- Participates in inspections from regulatory agencies such as OSHA
- Assists with the removal of biological, physical or chemical hazards
- Performs other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Strong ability to assess risk
- Strong understanding of all safety as it relates to concrete including pumping, excavation, civil/commercial construction and residential construction
- Strong ability to speak and communicate in Spanish
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft office skills
- OSHA 500 Certified, OSHA 30 Certifications, First Aid/CPR, Train-the-trainer certified or willingness to complete after hire.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to conduct training and strong public speaking skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years Construction experience
- 2+ years of Safety experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and push/pull 25-pound loads at a time
- Must be able to ride in a car for long periods of time
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to travel to several sites
