Job Description Summary:

The Senior Project Analyst is a key member of the project team, with responsibility for supervising other analysts and assisting in reviewing and analyzing project cost and schedules. The Sr. Project Analyst will also assist the Project Controls Manager (PCM) in training and support for various software that is being utilized within the company. In addition, He/She will work with and mentor other more junior analysts and manage the department on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Convert the project's approved estimate into a control budget for usage in cost management
  • Assist the Project Manager in the establishment and maintenance of the project's Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Assist in the development and tracking of project change orders.
  • Review of expenditure details, identifying incorrect charges, and commencement of the charge correction process
  • Prepares detailed cost analysis to identify and explain variances on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Evaluate projections based on earned value management.
  • Proactively identify issues and risks, and work with the team for timely resolutions.
  • Leverage best practices, techniques, and tools for quality control, project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
  • Coordinate monthly cost review sessions with project team. Prepare monthly summary for management team.
  • Maintain SOX documentation surrounding projects and percentage of completion revenue recognition and assist with providing support for internal/external audits.
  • Travel to field offices when required.
  • Mentor Junior Project analysts and review their work
  • Be responsible for implementing the principals of earned value management, monitoring actual costs and commitments, and producing financial deliverables.
  • Prepare and present project cost and schedule summary reports in weekly, bi-monthly and monthly Project Status Review meetings, utilizing spreadsheets, diagrams, graphs, and reports suitable for presentation to upper management.
  • Supervise and mentor Project Analysts
  • Responsible for implementation of project controls best practices to support the project management team to execute projects on time, on budget, and to project specifications.
  • Take ownership of the cost control function and ensure integrity of the data being processed.

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience as a Project Controls Analyst
  • Four-year degree in construction management, finance, or related field recommended, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and other related software is required.
  • Experience with project management software, tools, and methodologies
  • Experience with Procore Construction Manager software
  • Experience in Transmission, Substation, and/or Power Distribution preferred.
  • Proficient with Earned Value Management (EVM) systems on EPC projects.
