Come Join an Inclusive TeamThe Technology Manager is responsible for directing technical team including engineers, researchers and lab technicians to deliver on business unit goals, in the areas of product development, innovation & research, technical support to customers and analytical lab work. The position works closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders to define and execute business strategies, create innovative products to support business growth and profitability, and support asset optimization efforts while also managing the communication between the multidisciplinary interfaces to ensure alignment and seamless coordination of interdependencies. Success in this role will mean leading the team to safely driving cost discipline in optimization of existing technologies, while delivering new technologies aligned with market trends to build long term competitive advantage, industry leading EBITDA performance, and facilitating LyondellBasell's leadership position in the industry.

A Day in the Life- Manage CCS Technology team in accordance with GoalZero HSE, Operational Excellence and any other local or legal requirements suitable.
- Create a motivated, proactive, efficient workforce based on the culture and values of the organization while facilitating a safe, rewarding and inclusive work environment without bias.
- Interface with Business management, Sales and other functions to plan, prepare, implement and lead technical product/application development projects and goals aligned with segment needs, industry trends and business strategy.
- Understand broader customer, market and industry needs / trends. Facilitate the group's interaction with other cross functional organizations to frame these into value added opportunities. Maintain key customer/supplier/vendor relationships required to support business strategy.
- Identifies new opportunities to improve technical service and customer training offering.
- Manage the technical service team and their effort to support pre and post sales from the technical aspect and that any complaints from technical performance of the products are analyzed and solved according o LYB procedures and processes.
- Manage fixed costs for all cost centers assigned actively and ensure annual budget is not exceeded. Budget during the performance plan period accordingly.
- Directs product development activities with the various teams in the Technology area, as well as product´s specifications and compliance with customer needs. Uses GIGP and Accolade platform for this objective. Ensure the proper management of project portfolio by using of LYB design and development systems and processes. Ensure technical coherence and alignment with business strategy.
- Facilitates the evaluation and utilization of slow-moving and/or obsolete materials to reduce inventory through following-up the product development team.
- Supervises the support to manufacturing area on the different production sites during scale up of developments or other technical substitutions. Work closely with all laboratories to ensure team needs and data accuracy are met.
- Coordination of basic research, fundamental knowledge development, innovation efforts and investigation on new technologies that will reflect novel technical solutions for LYB APS´customers. Engage/collaborate with business partners, external institutes and universities to broaden the Technology Team scope.
- Manages the identification and approval of new MPs, seeking competitiveness of finished products, deploying resources in coordination with purchasing, product safety, supply chain, manufacturing, and other relevant functional teams.
- Oversee the activities from the associated lab team to best serve the different areas that uses the services of the associated lab team provides, setting KPIs and defining scope of work. Manage any laboratory resources intended to the support the Technology team activities and the business goals. For the role based at the ATC means site management responsibility over that location.
- Plan necessary additions on the analytical support lab´s capabilities, through CAPEX and OPEX, of equipments and skilled professionals to meet the business needs.
- Frequent important trade shows/conferences and promote LYB as a technical leader through presentation of relevant topics, published papers, webinars or marketing promotions.
- Attribute leadership within the Technology team for global projects coordination.
- Any other duties and responsibilities, not listed here, related to the specific region and the Technology team.
Education:
- Degreed in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related engineering degree, Master or Doctorate preferred.
Work Experience:
- Knowledge and expertise of polymer structure / property, processing technologies, application industries.
- Knowledge in compound formulations and raw materials (stabilizers, fillers, processing film additives, pigments,..)
- At least 10 years' experience in compounding or polymer industry. Prefered on the film conversion industry (blown/cast PE/PP film, BOPP film).
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Quality Systems and Procedures
- Project Management
Competencies
- Understanding of market trends, customer / end user needs and how to translate those into products / technologies to be developed.
- Experience in polymer testing
- Experience in managing larger teams
- Willingness to travel
- Strong leadership, communication, situational management, managerial agility, systemic thinking and planning skills
