Senior Staff Accountant

Summary:
Manages processes and procedures; achieves operational objectives; manages systems; monitors revenue and expenses; maintains accounting controls; assists with other accounting (e.g., A/P, A/R, Payroll, vendor check payments and billing duties as necessary and complies with legal requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes year-end & month-end close including journal entries.
- Responsible for compiling and analyzing financial data on a real-time basis.
- Reconciles various balance sheet asset and liability accounts.
- Maintains attention to detail and accuracy, completing multiple or repetitive tasks.
- Demonstrates a commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines.
- Good at implementing and refining systems to manage complex processes and to optimize performance.
- Assists with monthly billing, including coordination with third-party vendors for electronic billing.
- Coordinates banking activities and initiates and records wire transfers.
- Assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll as needed.
- Willingness to work extended hours during company peak times.
- Assists in coordinating communications, meetings, and training activities.
- Assists in variety of audit/support functions.
- Assists with training employees, planning work, and resolving issues.
- Proficient with Intaact accounting software, PlanGuru, and Excel.
- Assists with the operations of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Helps maintain relationships with clients and/or vendors.
- Assists with reports which summarize company business activity and financial information in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings as needed.
- Assists Manager of Finance with preparation of budgets and forecasts and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Prepares and reviews monthly financial statements for submission to the Manager of Finance and assists with the investigation of expenses for when needed.
- Maintains weekly cash flow report and projections.
- Reviews funds transfers for payroll and weekly accounts payable check runs.
- Maintains fixed assets and leased assets account schedules.
- Completes various month end financial statement support schedules.
- Researches and reconciles questions related to designated departments' and divisions' expenses and profit and loss, as necessary.
- Collaborates with department staff to solve department issues and provides options/solutions.
- Assists with external activities to comply with third-party audits.
- Prepares and reviews monthly and quarterly department reports as needed.
- May assist with the regular submission of client reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; and five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Intacct and Plan Guru experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The Staff Accountant must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The Staff Accountant must be able to write routine reports and correspondence and should have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in front of groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
The Staff Accountant must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The Staff Accountant must also have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
The Staff Accountant must have the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The Staff Accountant must also have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
The Staff Accountant needs to be able to use ERP/budgeting systems, MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel, and should have basic computer knowledge systems. The Staff Accountant needs to be able to concentrate for extended periods of time. The Staff Accountant must have strong knowledge of accounting principles.
