Atlanta, Georgia, United States The Morgan Oliver School for Anti-Racism Full time $26,000 - $32,000 per year

About Morgan's Early Care Connection (MECC):

Morgan's ECC is an innovative, equity-driven early care program designed to provide high-quality, student-centered learning for children aged 12 months to 4 years. We emphasize bilingual learning, culturally responsive education, and a play-based curriculum that nurtures curiosity, independence, and social-emotional growth.

As we continue to expand, we are seeking an Assistant Early Care Educator to join our team and help ensure the smooth daily operation of our classrooms and facilities.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Early Care Educator will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment. This role includes providing instructional support, assisting with daily routines, and serving as the closing staff member to ensure all end-of-day procedures are followed. This role would begin with the hours of 11:30-6PM.

This position requires flexibility, as hours may shift depending on enrollment and program needs. It is an ideal role for someone who is collaborative, dependable, and eager to grow within a dynamic early childhood program.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support & Instruction

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Engage with children in small-group and one-on-one settings to support language, social-emotional, and motor skill development.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom culture where every child feels seen, supported, and safe.

Daily Care & Routines

  • Support children during meals, rest time, and transitions.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, and hygiene routines in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Model and encourage positive peer interactions and emotional regulation.

End-of-Day Closing Duties

  • Serve as the closing staff member, ensuring children are safely dismissed to caregivers.
  • Complete end-of-day cleaning, organization, and safety checks.
  • Secure and organize classrooms and common spaces at closing time.

Family Engagement & Communication

  • Build warm, respectful relationships with families.
  • Provide daily updates as needed and communicate important information to the Lead Teacher or Program Director.

Health, Safety, & Compliance

  • Follow Bright from the Start (BFTS) standards and licensing requirements.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Monitor child health and safety, reporting concerns promptly.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in staff training, professional development, and team meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with the Lead Teacher and administrators about classroom needs.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to help strengthen the program.

Compensation & Growth Opportunity:

  • Hourly Rate: $13–$16 per hour, based on experience and education.
  • Growth Pathway: Opportunities to increase hours, responsibilities, and pay as the program expands.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • At least 1 year of experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or early learning setting.
  • Dependability and flexibility to adjust hours based on program needs.
  • Ability to collaborate and take initiative in a growing, evolving program.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).

Preferred:

  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with play-based learning, Reggio Emilia, or Montessori-inspired approaches.
  • Knowledge of Bright from the Start (BFTS) licensing standards.

What We Offer:

  • A collaborative, supportive work environment that values teacher well-being and professional growth.
  • Competitive compensation and opportunities for advancement as the program expands.
  • A chance to play an important role in shaping a growing, equity-centered early care program.

How to Apply:

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience working with young children and why you're excited to join Morgan's Early Care Connection.

At Morgan's Early Care Connection, we are committed to building an inclusive, equitable learning environment for both students and staff. We encourage educators from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.
