Medical Director — Baba Care
About Baba Care
Baba is the copilot for anyone receiving or giving care. We're providing day-to-day support for older adults and their families to help guide users through the complexities of health, wellness, and life challenges. As the trusted partner for our users, Baba's mission is to make care more accessible and dignified. Baba is backed by top tier investors, has a team from MIT, Stripe, McKinsey, and Headspace, and supports thousands of families across assisted living, nursing homes, and at-home settings.
About the Role
As Baba's Medical Director, you'll provide clinical leadership and oversight for our care advocacy and navigation programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and compassion.
You'll provide clinical oversight to a team of advocates, social workers, and auxiliary personnel who serve as the front line of support for patients facing complex medical and social challenges.
This is a remote, 1099 (contractor) role. You may choose part-time or full-time engagement.
What You'll Do
- Conduct initiating visits. Perform telehealth-based E/M or Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs) to establish medical necessity for CHI and PIN services and identify high-risk conditions or unmet social needs.
- Supervise care delivery and care plan execution via incident-to, ensuring compliance with CMS guidelines
- Manage AI-enabled workflows. Oversee the safe and effective use of Baba's AI-powered tools that assist advocates in designing and managing care plans, ensuring outputs are clinically sound, ethical, and aligned with patient goals.
- Validate care plans. Review and approve individualized care plans to ensure alignment with the patient's medical treatment plan and documentation of continued medical necessity.
Provide clinical oversight. Support the team on complex or high-risk cases and ensure appropriate medical decision-making.
- Maintain documentation standards. Verify that all notes, time logs, and coding (including SDOH Z-codes) meet Medicare and state documentation requirements.
- Ensure compliance and quality. Oversee adherence to federal and state telehealth and licensure rules, driving continuous quality improvement and audit readiness.
- Collaborate and innovate. Work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to refine workflows, improve patient outcomes, and design technology that enhances— not replaces— clinical care.
What You Bring
- M.D. or D.O. with an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S with an active participation in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC). Preference for those with a license to practice in CA and with telehealth registration in states requiring them
- Licensed in 50 states in order to be the PC owner and practice in all states
- Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine preferred.
- 3+ years of post-residency clinical experience, with exposure to primary care, care management, or telehealth models.
- Working knowledge of Medicare program rules, including requirements for incident-to billing, CHI/PIN services, and Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) documentation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to mentor care teams and lead with empathy and clarity.
- Proficiency with EMRs, care management platforms, and telehealth workflows.
Why Join Baba
- Help shape a new model of integrated, tech-enabled care advocacy that unites clinical oversight with social support.
- Work remotely and flexibly while ensuring patients receive high-quality, coordinated care.
- Join a mission-driven team building the care copilot that every patient deserves.
