Summary: The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in managing general ledger accounting, account analysis, and reconciliations. This position supports the monthly record-to-report process and assists with financial reporting, marketing allowances, and cash transactions. The role involves reconciling intercompany accounts, generating reports, and supporting governmental filings. Additionally, the Senior Accountant provides vital assistance during external audits, lender reviews, and inventory appraisals. Collaboration across departments and regions is key, as is maintaining high standards of accuracy and proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement.

What You'll Do:

  • General ledger accounting, account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, annual budget, periodic forecasts, and other internal reporting.
  • Generate all reconciliations in a timely, accurate and fully descriptive manner, including tying out the reconciliation with the related income statement activity; ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare robust analysis of variances to budget, identifying trends and providing executive commentary.
  • Record accounting transactions and journal entries to the general ledger to ensure the ledger accurately reflects transactions (commissions, management fees, depreciation and amortization, prepaid expenses, etc.).
  • Record and reconcile intercompany activity, confirming all balances no less than monthly. Coordination of intercompany activity and reconciliations.
  • Assist with external audits, lender reviews, and inventory appraisals.
  • Prepare and review travel and entertainment expenses for accuracy and budget compliance.
  • Identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare documentation for a variety of tax filings.

What You Bring:

  • 4+ years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in public accounting and/or in a mid to large size distribution company.
  • Experience with accounting software, such as Sage, QuickBooks, or NetSuite.
  • Ultimate attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to function at a high level in a global, fast-paced, and 'continuous improvement' environment.
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, organize and report information.
  • Strong listening and written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organization and planning.
  • Highest degree of integrity and ethical standards.

  • Solid US GAAP (Intermediate) Knowledge, Financial reporting principles (Intermediate) and practices.

  • Advanced level skills in all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word (Advanced), PowerPoint (Advanced)).
  • Familiarity with P&L, Balance Sheet (Developing), and Cash Flow statements preparation (Developing).
  • Understanding of consolidation processes - including foreign operations, intercompany eliminations, and profit in ending inventory.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.

Standard hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm EST. Due to the global nature of the role, flexibility may be required to attend evening meetings, conference calls, or contribute additional work input outside of core hours.

Work Setting: HMTX Corporate Headquarters, Norwalk, CT

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 a year with a yearly bonus potential. This range is applicable for jobs performed in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. An employee's pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, and business organizational needs.
