Overview

Our client, a leading global asset manager, is seeking a Senior Manager to join its Finance team focusing on accounting policy and technical accounting. This role will support consolidated and entity-level reporting, lead special initiatives, and advise on accounting impacts of complex transactions. It provides direct exposure to senior management, auditors, and regulators, with responsibility for interpreting U.S. GAAP guidance across asset management products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with legal entity controllers to ensure appropriate adoption and maintenance of accounting policies across firm and subsidiary financial statements
  • Lead special projects including M&A transaction integration, new product launches, and finance transformation initiatives
  • Assess the impact of new accounting standards and guidance on reporting, controls, and daily operations
  • Analyze transactions and draft technical accounting memos summarizing conclusions for leadership and external stakeholders
  • Support monthly close, including preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation and review of legal entity financial statements and senior management presentations
  • Act as liaison with external auditors, internal audit, and regulatory examiners as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred; MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience in financial services, ideally asset management
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting standards relevant to the asset management industry (rev rec, leases, FX, consolidation/VIEs, compensation, investments, liabilities vs equity)
  • Experience with fund industry accounting (40 Act Funds, Private Equity) a strong plus
  • Systems knowledge: SAP, Workiva, OneStream preferred; advanced Excel required with ability to integrate AI tools
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present complex accounting conclusions clearly
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
