The Coordinator for District Accounting Services plays a critical role in guidance and leadership of the District Accounting Specialists. This position will assist, support and coordinate the specialists in providing technical assistance and bookkeeping services to school districts in the areas of payroll, finance and budget processing along with overseeing finance data submission and reporting and other local, state and federal grant support. In addition, this role, along with the specialists, has the potential to leverage the accounting information to drive real change for schools by enabling education leaders with tools and support to maximize their school finance capacity as well as the impact of funds that reach students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field.
  • Proficient knowledge of the field of school finance and school district accounting.
    At least one year of experience in the field of finance or accounting.

  • Knowledge of policy and procedures, and ability to ensure compliance
  • Flexible, with the ability to respond to unexpected changes quickly, calmly and efficiently
  • Effective organizational, communication (verbal and written), problem-solving and interpersonal skills
    Maintain professionalism and emotional control under stress

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide leadership and technical assistance services in budget development and financial management to internal staff and school district personnel.
  • Provide guidance and direction for business specialists in various functions of accounting and payroll services as indicated in contracted agreements with school districts.
  • Assist in coordination of the research, development, and evaluation of district personnel data quality programs, materials and services related to specific assignments in the business support areas.
  • Work with Director to lead and oversee on-site technical assistance to school districts and coordinate with staff to properly assign and organize various duties as needed.
  • Prepare, submit, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents as required.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and standards in all aspects of ESC duties.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education Rules, and ESC board policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible.
    Articulate and support the Center mission and instructional philosophy.
