Event Sales Manager

Position Summary
As the Events and Sales Manager, you will book all events and oversee event operations for Coopers Hall, event venues specializing in weddings, corporate events, and private gatherings. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader in the events or hospitality industry who can drive revenue, manage a team, and build long-term partnerships within the local business community. This position is eligible to earn commissions.
Sales Leadership:
- Execute all sales efforts across both venues, including client inquiries, tours, proposals, and contract negotiations
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive bookings
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, planners, and vendors
- Utilize event management software to manage pipelines, forecast bookings, and track performance
- Set and achieve revenue goals
Event Operations Oversight:
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless execution of events
- Oversee creation of event timelines, staffing plans, and vendor coordination
- Attend key events to support the team and ensure client satisfaction
- Evaluate and enhance the guest experience
Team Management:
- Manage and support the sales and event coordination team at both venues
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, including scheduling, timekeeping, and performance management
- Accurately process payroll for direct reports
- Spearhead hiring, onboarding, and training for new team members
Marketing & Community Partnerships:
- Collaborate with the team on campaigns, seasonal promotions, and brand strategy
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses to create opportunities and expand brand presence
- Represent Coopers Hall at trade shows, bridal expos, and networking events
- Stay up to date on market trends and adjust strategies to stay competitive
Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in event, hospitality, or venue management
- Proven experience leading teams and managing multiple event spaces
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in POS and Tripleseat Event management software
- Familiarity with the Portland market and local business community is a strong plus
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate operational needs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Extended periods of standing and walking
- Ability to lift and carry equipments and products up to 75 pounds
- Endurance and stamina to handle long shifts and demanding event tasks
