What this job involves:Responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining central utility plant equipment and systems that provide heating, cooling, and other utility services to commercial buildings or facilities.What your day-to-day will look like:Monitor, operate, and adjust equipment including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and auxiliary systemsPerform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on plant equipmentAnalyze equipment performance data and make adjustments to optimize efficiencyTroubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs as neededMaintain accurate logs of operations, maintenance activities, and equipment readingsEnsure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standardsRespond to emergency situations and equipment failures promptlyCoordinate with maintenance teams on scheduled repairs and replacementsManage chemical treatment programs for water systemsMonitor energy consumption and implement conservation measuresRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred2-5 years of experience in utility plant operations or facilities maintenanceKnowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and mechanical equipmentValid certifications relevant to boiler operation, refrigeration, or building systemsAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment specificationsProficiency in using building automation systems and computerized maintenance softwareStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work in various environmental conditions and perform physical tasksMay require shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidaysOther duties as assignedPreferred Qualifications:Ability to lift up to 50 poundsCapable of climbing ladders and working at heightsAble to work in confined spaces when necessaryStanding and walking for extended periodsLocation:On-site –Richmond, VAIf this job description resonates with you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet all the requirements.
