About The Role

As a Director in our Healthcare & Life Sciences sector, you will take an active role in promoting the day-to-day management of our public affairs client accounts. This person will align with all aspects of both the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector, as well as our Public Affairs team. FTI Consulting's Public Affairs team brings together policy, communications, advocacy, and reputational engagement to support and advance our clients' business goals and objectives. As a successful Director, you will lead strategic efforts across account teams, managing both up and down to ensure alignment with client goals and expectations. You will provide high-level counsel on public policy, legislative strategy, communications and advocacy engagement, helping clients navigate complex political and regulatory landscapes.

Your responsibilities will include developing and executing integrated communications strategies that support our clients' policy objectives, drafting compelling materials such as advocacy plans, strategy and policy memos, press releases, and briefing documents, and preparing clients for high-stakes engagements with media, policymakers, and a broad range of internal and external stakeholder audiences. And you will work in partnership with our early career professionals in bringing these efforts to life.

You will track, monitor, and offer insights on policy (federal, state, and/or local) developments, peer positioning, industry and market dynamics, media coverage, and reporting, and more – translating these developments into actionable communications and engagement strategies.

What You'll Do

The Director manages account teams and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of clients' objectives and challenges to oversee the design and execution of innovative communications, research and engagement strategies and tactics. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Develop strategic proposals, communications plans, research, analysis and other work product for clients and new business prospects
  • Serve as a primary client contact, providing strategic counsel directly to clients in meetings, conference calls and while working on client sites
  • Oversee project management and document development to ensure deadlines are met and objectives are achieved
  • Anticipate client needs and concerns and work proactively with colleagues to address them
  • Drive new business pursuits, including the development of thought leadership, identification of business prospects and ongoing networking on behalf of the firm
  • Support team training and professional development and serve as a performance manager to junior staff

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related business field
  • 5+ years of relevant post-graduate professional experience
  • Experience in the Healthcare & Life Sciences sector is essential
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong time and priority management skills and an ability to juggle multiple client accounts
  • Ability to convey information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing
  • Computer proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
