We are expanding our team and seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Medical Biller who is passionate about supporting a growing pediatric therapy practice.
Position Summary
The Medical Biller will handle all aspects of billing and reimbursement for our occupational therapy services, including insurance claims, patient billing, and payment reconciliation. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and familiar with therapy billing procedures and documentation requirements.
What you'll do
- Process and submit medical claims using appropriate coding systems, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Review and verify patient information, ensuring accuracy in medical records and billing documentation.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to claims processing.
- Conduct follow-ups on outstanding claims and manage the medical collection process efficiently.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to maintain accurate billing records.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding their bills and insurance coverage.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Basic qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing (pediatric or therapy setting preferred).
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes related to OT services.
- Familiarity with clearinghouses, EHR systems (e.g., SimplePractice, Fusion, or similar).
- Strong understanding of insurance processes (private, Medi-Cal, and school contracts).
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office environment is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in handling medical records with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with United healcare, Kaiser, Aetna, and Cigna billing.
- Understanding of superbills, prior authorizations, and secondary claims.
- Comfort with QuickBooks and basic financial reporting.

Schedule & Pay
- Flexible schedule (remote options for the right candidate).
- Compensation: $20–$23/hour, based on experience.
