Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist to join our remote team. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of hands-on coding experience, strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding, and the ability to interpret clinical documentation accurately. This role is fully remote and suited for individuals who can work independently while meeting productivity and accuracy standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medical records and provider documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
  • Ensure coded data aligns with payer requirements, compliance standards, and internal policies
  • Verify documentation completeness and query providers when clarification is needed
  • Work closely with billing and reimbursement teams to resolve coding-related errors
  • Maintain productivity and accuracy targets while working in a deadline-driven remote environment
  • Protect and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational guidelines
  • Stay updated on coding guidelines, payer changes, and regulatory updates
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of medical coding experience (provider office, outpatient, or multi-specialty experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Basic proficiency with EHR systems and coding software
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
  • Experience with insurance claims processing or reimbursement guidelines
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies
  • Strong communication skills for provider queries
  • Prior remote work experience
