Overview

  • We are seeking a mid-level Data Visualization Developer to support a federal client. The ideal candidate will have experience using data visualization platforms especially SAP Business Objects and front-end technologies, and a strong ability to collaborate with data analysts, developers, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality, user-centered solutions. This role will play a key part in developing interactive dashboards, intuitive reports, and self-service analytics tools that turn complex data into actionable insights for federal leadership and stakeholders.
  • This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC area, requiring on-site presence three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and reports using tools like SAP Business Objects, Tableau and Power BI.
  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, and judiciary business units to understand data needs and translate them into visually compelling and accessible outputs.
  • Develop user-centric solutions that support self-service analytics while ensuring data accuracy, usability, and performance.
  • Write efficient SQL queries to source, filter, and shape data for visualization and reporting needs.
  • Create and maintain front-end visualizations using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and libraries such as or , when applicable.
  • Participate in regular design reviews, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions.
  • Ensure data security and confidentiality in accordance with agency policies and guidelines.
  • Support documentation, version control, and testing of visualization products.

Required Skills 

  • Proficiency in one or more data visualization tools like SAP Business Objects, Tableau and Power BI.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL for querying and transforming data.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles for dashboard and data product design.
  • Experience with web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript libraries like , , or jQuery.
  • Ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets in secure environments.
  • Proven ability to interpret and communicate data insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data integrity, and data security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal clients.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and version control tools (e.g., Git).
  • Understanding of data governance, accessibility standards, and metadata management in public-sector environments.
  • Experience integrating visualizations into broader enterprise platforms or portals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data visualization, BI development, or front-end development with a focus on data representation.
