A high-growth, private equity–backed startup is seeking a
Senior Financial Analyst
to serve as its
first internal finance hire
, supporting the build-out of an institutional-quality accounting and finance function.
Today, the company relies on outsourced consultants for accounting and finance execution. This role represents a critical inflection point — bringing core financial ownership in-house and establishing the analytical rigor, reporting cadence, and operational insight required to support rapid growth and increasing complexity.
The Senior Financial Analyst will operate as a
hands-on finance builder
, working closely with the CEO, private equity sponsor, and external accounting partners. This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who thrives in startup environments and wants to grow into a future finance leadership role as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Infrastructure Support
- Partner with outsourced accounting providers to support the transition toward an internal finance function.
- Assist in designing and documenting accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with PE-backed best practices.
- Support selection, implementation, and optimization of core financial systems (GL, AP/AR, payroll, job costing, inventory, fixed assets).
- Help establish a disciplined monthly close cadence and standardized management reporting.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow tracking, and working capital analysis.
- Develop KPI dashboards and operational reporting to support decision-making.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support growth initiatives and operational improvements.
Project-Based & Technical Accounting Support
- Support accounting and analysis for:
- Fixed assets
- Inventory
- Project / job-cost accounting in a construction or project-based environment
- Assist with GAAP compliance and audit readiness as the business scales.
- Support government contracting accounting and compliance in coordination with experienced outsourced partners.
Private Equity & Executive Support
- Work closely with the CEO and private equity sponsor on financial reporting and analysis.
- Assist in preparing board materials, investor updates, and management presentations.
- Support future initiatives including financings, acquisitions, and operational scale-up efforts.
Function Growth & Process Development
- Help build scalable finance processes, documentation, and reporting frameworks.
- Reduce reliance on outsourced providers over time through internal capability development.
- Contribute to the roadmap for future finance hires as the company grows.

- CPA strongly preferred
- Big 4 public accounting experience required
- Experience in a startup or early-stage PE-backed environment preferred
- Strong analytical and hands-on finance background
- Experience supporting:
- Fixed asset accounting
- Inventory accounting
- Project / job-cost accounting
- Construction or project-based services experience preferred
- Government contracting accounting exposure preferred
- Highly execution-oriented with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable operating in a lean environment with evolving processes
- Strong communicator able to partner with executives, investors, and external advisors
