Position Title: Dispatcher | Reports to: General Manager 

Employment Status: Full-time | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Pay Grade: Hourly 

About the Role 

The Dispatcher is responsible for acting as an intermediary between external partners, drivers in the field, and facility logistics to ensure the successful pick-ups and deliveries of products. This role will be the main point of contact for our drivers, relaying information, and updates.  

Responsibilities 

  • Manage daily dispatching of facility drivers for all pick-ups and vendor deliveries. 
  • Work the logistics window to greet customers and vendors that visit the department. 
  • Maintain contact with drivers, tracking movements throughout the day to monitor schedules. 
  • Coordinate with outside carriers to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries. 
  • Ensure all required paperwork is obtained from drivers and vendors, accurately submitting it into our system. 
  • Assist in coordinating mulch pick-ups and CHEP returns. 
  • Provide assistance with shipping and receiving in tracking inventory levels as needed.
  • Support facility leadership in managing the dispatch and order calendars. 
  • Escalate matters to the Transportation Manager as needed.
  • Foster exceptional and collaborative partnerships with PLA staff, vendors, and customers.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education 

  • 2+ years of experience as a dispatcher or similar role. 
  • Some knowledge of relevant DOT regulations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Any combination of education and experience will be considered. 

Physical & Environment 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Most duties are performed in a climate-controlled environment. Hazards require the use of personal protective equipment while in facility production areas.
