Field Service Technician

Job Description

We are searching for a highly skilled and experienced field service tech for our Charlotte, NC office, to diagnose and resolve problems for our customers in a vast array of manufacturing equipment and encompassing all makes and types of automation. Answering to the Engineering Manager, as well as troubleshooting PLC, motor drive, electromechanical and hydraulic systems in the field, in between breakdowns you may be asked to assist with in-house automation projects or with setting up test systems for our electronic repair bench technicians. Travel will be mostly local, but may require occasional overnight travel. You should be familiar with all the major PLC systems and have an excellent working knowledge of a range of motor drive systems. Robotics experience a plus. You MUST be able to work on your own initiative and be able to accurately document your work.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical skills; ability to learn and understand AFI Systems processes and procedures
  • Strong Computer proficiency

  • Must possess excellent troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Great communication and customer service skills - this is a customer facing position and you will be expected to provide an excellent level of customer service, courtesy and helpfulness.

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma and Technical School Certification required (related field)
  • At least five years related experience
  • PLC programming skills
