Direct Support Professional (DSP), Day Program

Located in Franklin, TN or Fairview, TN

Our Day Programs are all about helping our members:

  • Create and complete fun, engaging activities together, either in-house or community-based, that encourages their independence and skill-building.

And, participate in fun activities like:

  • Joining a local cooking class in order to help teach independent living skills.
  • Teaching money management skills by community-based budgeting & spending opportunities.
  • Exploring the member's interests and strengths, such as photography, fitness, or the arts and theatre.
  • Volunteering locally to promote community involvement.
  • Activity-based group outings like bowling, or going to the park, or a local community event.
  • Educate members on how to advocate for themselves while providing the support they need to make decisions.

The person in this position will report to, and work closely with the Program Manager. They will become familiar with each waiver's regulations, communicate regularly with the Team Lead and Coordinators, gain knowledge of each Person-Centered Support Plans (PCSP) or Individual Support Plans (ISP), and will be responsible for completing detailed documentation.

*For a limited time, we are offering a $500 bonus to candidates that already have the required training (CPR Certification, Med Administration, and Relias training) once you complete onboarding with Waves.

Base Rate of Pay: $16.00/hour

Company overview: Waves, Inc. was established by a group of citizens in Fairview, Tennessee in 1973. Beginning with one day program serving six adults, Waves has gradually grown to now serve over 70 adults, and more than 600 children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Waves is funded by the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, as well as its local community of generous partners and donors.

Requirements
  • High school diploma and experience in a related field.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment Criminal Background Report and Drug Screen.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
  • Have a Tennessee driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Intermediate computer skills are required. Staff will use technology for daily documentation and to help the person receiving support to engage in their communities.

Salary Description
Base Rate of Pay: $14.50/hour
